TurfTonics Ltd completes establishment of three SIS stitched hybrid pitches using Anderson nutrition technology.

The establishment of three new stitched hybrid pitches marks a major development in delivering elite-standard, durable playing surfaces capable of year-round performance. The grow-in and establishment works were carried out by TurfTonics Ltd, professional sports turf contractors with extensive experience in hybrid and natural grass systems.

A carefully designed nutritional programme was implemented to promote rapid establishment, strong rooting, and long-term turf resilience within the hybrid matrix.

Grow-In Nutrition Programme

A phased fertiliser strategy combined Andersons granular and liquid technologies, selected for their consistency, plant availability, and suitability for hybrid rootzones.

Base Application – Andersons RX 5-7-5 @ 50 g/m²

At seeding, Andersons RX 5-7-5 was applied at 50 grams per square metre, providing balanced primary nutrients to stimulate root and shoot initiation. The controlled-release formulation ensured steady nutrient availability through the germination and early growth phases, while the organic content supported microbial activity and nutrient efficiency in the upper profile.

Follow-Up Granular – Andersons DG 14-7-14

Once establishment was underway, the programme transitioned to Andersons DG 14-7-14, a dispersible granular fertiliser providing even nutrient distribution across the stitched surface. The balanced nitrogen and potassium levels encouraged strong tillering, sward density, and enhanced stress tolerance. The Dispersing Granule (DG) technology ensured rapid nutrient release with minimal surface residue—critical for maintaining uniformity on hybrid systems.

Liquid Nutrition and Foliar Support

The granular applications were complemented by a targeted liquid nutrition programme to fine-tune plant response and maintain turf colour and vigour:

  • Ultramate LQ – supplied humic and fulvic acids to improve nutrient mobility and soil function.

  • 18-3-6 – provided readily available nitrogen for consistent top growth and visual quality.

  • Minors – delivered a full micronutrient package to prevent trace element deficiencies.

  • 0-0-27 – supplied soluble potassium for cell strength, stress resistance, and improved recovery.

  • VertMaxDuo pigment – incorporated into all foliar applications to enhance turf colour, protect leaf tissue from UV stress, and improve overall photosynthetic efficiency during grow-in.

Results and Performance

The combination of hybrid technology, Anderson's nutrient products, and the professional expertise of TurfTonics Ltd produced rapid, uniform establishment and a dense, vigorous sward. Rooting through the stitched fibre network has been exceptional, providing surface stability and resilience under play.

Early performance results have demonstrated excellent coverage, strong recovery, and consistent surface integrity across all three pitches. The balanced nutritional approach and inclusion of VertMaxDuo pigment have supported both functional performance and aesthetic quality, establishing a solid foundation for long-term maintenance and elite-level use.
